About the position

The University of Phoenix is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our team in a full-time virtual capacity. This role is pivotal in planning, managing, and coordinating curriculum and program design activities that are essential for the development, evaluation, assessment, and internal operations of our academic programs and courses. As an Instructional Designer, you will work under minimal supervision, ensuring that projects progress on schedule and meet established deadlines. You will evaluate educational materials to ensure they align with the University’s policies and standards, and you will utilize various measures of student learning outcomes to recommend improvements to courses and programs. In this position, you will also participate in the development and evaluation of student assessment activities, maintaining a thorough knowledge of the University’s product lines and policies. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and you will have opportunities to attend educational workshops to enhance your skills. The role may also involve providing instruction and direction to others related to specific projects. Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor a work plan for curriculum development and maintenance projects.
  • Manage activities of projects to ensure they progress on schedule and are completed by established deadlines.
  • Evaluate materials to ensure conformance with established University policies, practices, and standards.
  • Use multiple measures of student learning outcomes to formulate recommendations for course and program improvement.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of student assessment activities.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of University product lines, policies, practices, standards, and philosophy.
  • Attend educational workshops and pursue related professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree or higher in disciplines related to instructional design or a college appropriate discipline preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience performing in an instructional design role preferred.
  • Understanding of instructional design principles and experience with course design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience writing/editing and developing instructional materials, e.g., curriculum design or instructional design.
  • Experience aligning student learning outcomes with curriculum, course content, materials, and evaluation.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to develop curriculum is preferred.
  • Experience creating assessments to support student learning outcomes preferred.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings.
  • Proven experience performing project management activities.
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking to plan and manage designated projects.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present data analysis, research findings, projects, and recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of personal software packages for word processing and spreadsheet generation.
