About the position

The Instructional Designer will join Leidos' National Security Sector, focusing on developing and delivering training solutions for adult learners. This role involves collaborating with a high-performing agile team to create classroom and computer-based training using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The designer will work closely with subject-matter experts to analyze instructional requirements and implement effective training solutions, ensuring that learners are well-prepared to operate within a complex software system.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other ISDs/Training Developers to design and develop classroom and computer-based training/web-based training (CBT/WBT) learning solutions.
  • Conduct competency-based platform training incorporating multiple instructional technologies.
  • Consult with subject-matter experts to determine instructional requirements and adapt engineering references.
  • Develop and manage Lesson Plans and maintain operational workstations in the classroom.
  • Evaluate instructional programs, course content, and instructional methodologies.
  • Analyze learning objectives against program requirements and coordinate data gathering for evaluation and assessment.
  • Develop job aides for users and instructors on targeted technology.
  • Maintain CBT modules and human-machine interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Systems Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Learning, Curriculum Design, Human Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years in platform delivery design and development.
  • Experience developing training products for technology-based systems.
  • In-depth experience managing training projects and teaching hands-on technology courses.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience developing job aides for users and/or instructors on new technologies.
  • Experience developing technical publications such as user manuals and training manuals.
  • Experience using graphics applications and scripting languages including Photoshop, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • System administration experience.
  • Familiarity with Army Training development processes.
