About the position

The Instructional Designer at Intuitive Surgical will be responsible for designing and developing critical learning programs aimed at enhancing the skills of Intuitive's customers. This role involves creating eLearning modules, instructor-led training, technical product videos, and assessments, focusing on the clinical and technical aspects of Intuitive's products. The position requires collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the multimedia team to ensure engaging and effective training content that adheres to adult learning principles.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage all phases of multiple learning deliverables including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Proactively communicate task and project status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and scope deliverables in collaboration with SMEs.
  • Participate in content and needs analysis to determine training requirements.
  • Identify and craft sound and measurable learning objectives.
  • Contribute to curriculum maps for components/areas of responsibility.
  • Design and develop training content that engages learners and meets identified learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with the multimedia team to create or modify media assets to support instructional needs.
  • Manage review cycles with multiple SMEs and implement feedback effectively.
  • Conduct peer review and quality assurance of deliverables.
  • Work with Implementation Administrator to manage deliverables through the document control and launch process.
  • Evaluate learning content using qualitative and quantitative methods to drive improvements.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and develop tools to enhance instructional design efficiencies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a biotech or medical device organization preferred.
  • Education background in Curriculum Development or Instructional Design/Technology preferred; education degree acceptable; college degree required.
  • Comprehensive experience in designing and developing eLearning, instructor-led training, assessments, and blended learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated application of adult learning theory and assessment best practices.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs and other Instructional Designers.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize multiple development projects and deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Camtasia and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, After Effects, Photoshop).
  • Portfolio of work samples demonstrating instructional design capabilities.
