About the position

The Instructional Designer position at St. Joseph School District is a vital role aimed at enhancing the educational experience through the development of online course materials and training resources. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with faculty members to create engaging and effective online instructional materials that support both in-person and virtual learning environments. This position requires a proactive approach to working with educators to identify their needs and provide tailored solutions that leverage technology effectively. In this role, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for developing and delivering training materials for staff and students on the district's Learning Management System (LMS) and other instructional software applications. This includes creating both written and video training resources that facilitate the effective use of these tools in the classroom. The Instructional Designer will also conduct in-person and virtual training sessions, ensuring that faculty are well-equipped to utilize the technology available to them. Additionally, the Instructional Designer will serve as a liaison between faculty, district staff, and external vendors, providing guidance on software purchases that align with instructional goals. Continuous professional development is a key aspect of this role, as the Instructional Designer will participate in ongoing training to stay current with educational technology trends and best practices. The position is full-time, with a 12-month employment term, and offers the flexibility of emergency telework when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Attend work in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner.
  • Telework when requested by the district.
  • Work individually with faculty to create online instructional materials.
  • Create training materials, written and video, for instructional software applications.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training sessions with faculty.
  • Research and offer guidance for purchasing software directly related to instruction.
  • Act as a liaison between faculty and district staff and outside vendors for online learning matters.
  • Participate in continuous education training congruent with district needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Curriculum, Education, or similar field.
  • Combination of educational and work experience to meet the needs of the position.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • 2-5 years of experience working as an instructional designer or online/hybrid teacher with an educational institution, preferably in a K-12 school system.
