About the position

The Instructional Designer at Alamo Colleges Online (ACOL) is responsible for providing instructional design expertise in the development and support of hybrid and online courses. This role involves collaborating with faculty to design lessons, develop learning resources, and update courses for effective delivery. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to instructional design principles and accessibility guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze instructional goals, objectives, and timelines to design, develop, and implement courses.
• Collaborate with faculty on the selection of appropriate instructional technologies and delivery strategies.
• Revise and update current training materials to support Faculty, College, and District needs.
• Manage multiple projects and communicate effectively with project collaborators to meet goals and deadlines.
• Conduct course reviews using research-based course design standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training.
• Two years of job-related experience in instructional design or a related field.
• Knowledge of learning theory, instructional design, and related software.
• Ability to design instructional materials for a multimedia environment.
• Working knowledge of Canvas LMS.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, computer science, communications, or a related field.
• Experience in conducting workshops and training curriculum development.
