About the position

Tempus Unlimited, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering children and adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment. The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in designing and developing training programs for various internal and external stakeholders. This position requires collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assess training needs and create impactful learning experiences that utilize a variety of delivery methods, including in-person, virtual, and web-based formats. The goal is to ensure that all training materials are effective, engaging, and meet the necessary compliance standards, including ADA regulations. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for defining and documenting learning objectives in collaboration with cross-functional team members and SMEs. They will design and develop both technical and soft skills training, incorporating diverse formats such as group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos to optimize learning for various target audiences. Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs will be a key responsibility, utilizing the four levels of measurement to ensure that learning outcomes are met. Additionally, the Instructional Designer will maintain master training files, create and manage a knowledge base, and conduct train-the-trainer sessions as needed. This role requires a proactive and independent individual who can take initiative and work comfortably in a collaborative environment. The Instructional Designer will exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of Tempus Unlimited, ensuring that all training initiatives align with the organization's mission to promote inclusion and empowerment for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and SMEs to define and document learning objectives.
  • Design and develop technical and soft skills trainings using various methods including in-person, virtual, and self-paced/online learning.
  • Incorporate various formats such as group discussions, lectures, simulations, and videos into training design.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using the four levels of measurement.
  • Ensure trainings and materials meet ADA regulations.
  • Update and maintain master training files.
  • Create and maintain a knowledge base.
  • Conduct train-the-trainer sessions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Instructional Design Certification required.
  • At least three years of instructional design experience or educational equivalent required.
  • At least three years of training experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
  • Experience creating trainings that are ADA compliant.
  • Experience with knowledge bases preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strongly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual learning platforms such as Teams, Zoom, and Webex.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with e-learning software, LMS, knowledge bases, and other related software supporting trainings.
  • Experience with Articulate or similar products.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
