The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating effective learning experiences by designing, developing, and implementing educational programs, training materials, and digital learning modules. This role is critical in helping the organization foster a culture of continuous learning and development, ensuring that employees or learners can acquire knowledge and skills effectively and efficiently. The Instructional Designer will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and utilize instructional theory to produce training programs that facilitate learning and improve performance. This position directly reports to and partners with the Senior Manager of Digital Learning. In this role, the Instructional Designer will conduct needs assessments by collaborating with stakeholders, SMEs, and learners to identify learning needs. They will analyze target audience characteristics and learning preferences to inform design decisions. The designer will develop instructional materials, including course outlines, storyboards, content, and assessments, ensuring alignment with learning objectives. They will design learning experiences for various formats, such as in-person training, digital learning modules, webinars, and blended learning, applying instructional design theories and adult learning principles. The Instructional Designer will also create and curate engaging and interactive learning content, incorporating multimedia elements such as videos, quizzes, simulations, and activities. They will collaborate with graphic designers, developers, and video editors to produce visually appealing and technically sound learning materials. Additionally, they will leverage learning management systems (LMS) and other platforms for delivering and tracking training programs, staying up to date on the latest educational technologies and learning trends. Evaluation and improvement of instructional materials and training programs will be a key responsibility, as the designer will gather feedback, conduct assessments, and analyze performance data to make data-driven improvements. They will manage instructional design projects, including timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
