About the position

The Instructional Designer will support a non-profit organization by creating and developing course content specifically for mobile crisis care teams. This fully remote position is expected to last for 8-9 months, requiring 40 hours of work per week. The role emphasizes the development of engaging and accessible learning materials that align with state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-end audio, visual, and interactive learning tools to optimize learning.
  • Develop courses, assessments, curricula, student guides, training manuals, podcasts, videos, eBooks, and other forms of learning content.
  • Utilize content creation tools, such as video editing software and authoring tools, to produce instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify content priorities and ensure accuracy in foundational material.
  • Apply techniques like storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • Develop rubrics for assessing learner outcomes and update materials based on feedback and research.
  • Upload courses to online environments, including learning management systems (LMS).
  • Support the technical implementation of learning tools and systems.
  • Conduct training sessions for stakeholders on navigating online learning tools.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of instructional design theories, practices, and methods, including adult learning principles.
  • Proven ability to create engaging and accessible course content that enhances knowledge acquisition.
  • Expertise with Articulate Storyline, Captivate, or similar authoring tools; JavaScript experience preferred.
  • High proficiency in multimedia tools to create compelling visual and audio elements.
  • Technical proficiency in LMS, including content upload and user support.
  • Experience developing SCORM-compliant content for LMS integration.
  • Strong collaboration skills with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of instructional design theory with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Familiarity with the demands of contract work at a federal level.
