About the position

The Instructional Designer is a full-time, 12-month position at Paris Junior College, focused on enhancing the quality of instruction across various course formats, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face. The role involves collaborating with faculty and staff to design and develop effective instructional processes and materials. The Instructional Designer will also be responsible for presenting and facilitating training sessions, seminars, workshops, and other professional development programs aimed at improving instructional practices. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that educational offerings meet high standards of quality and accessibility, thereby supporting the institution's mission to provide excellent educational experiences for all students. In addition to the design and development responsibilities, the Instructional Designer will engage in ongoing assessment and evaluation of instructional materials and processes to ensure they align with best practices in instructional design. This includes applying principles such as ADDIE, understanding the differences between andragogy and pedagogy, and utilizing frameworks like Bloom's taxonomy to create effective learning experiences. The role also requires a commitment to accessibility, ensuring that all course materials are compliant with established standards and guidelines, thus making learning accessible to all students. The Instructional Designer will work closely with various stakeholders within the college, including faculty members, administrative staff, and students, to gather feedback and continuously improve instructional offerings. This collaborative approach is essential for fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning at Paris Junior College.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and development of processes for quality instruction in online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses.
  • Present and facilitate training sessions, seminars, workshops, and other professional development programs for faculty and staff.
  • Evaluate and assess instructional materials and processes to ensure alignment with best practices in instructional design.
  • Apply instructional design principles such as ADDIE, andragogy vs pedagogy, and Bloom's taxonomy in course development.
  • Ensure course materials meet accessibility standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to gather feedback and improve instructional offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of related experience in instructional design or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated competency in designing events, trainings, workshops, seminars, and/or ceremonies.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles such as ADDIE, andragogy vs pedagogy, Knowles, and/or Bloom's taxonomy.
  • Knowledge of active learning principles and their application in instructional design.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines, with experience in creating accessible course materials.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 products like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
