About the position

The Instructional Designer position at ACS Professional Staffing involves supporting the organization responsible for managing field operations, maintenance, and construction of high-voltage electrical transmission systems. The role focuses on developing and converting technical and safety training courses into web-based formats, ensuring that educational needs for various electrical apprentices and craftsmen are met effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop courses using established ISD processes.
  • Create or convert existing technical and safety courses into Web-based Training (WBT) courses using ToolBook and Adobe Captivate.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for special projects related to training efforts.
  • Create WBT testing/quizzes for score recording and reporting using current WBT course development software.
  • Encode HTML script to quiz pages for compatibility with HRMIS.
  • Create voiceovers for WBT courses following a written script.
  • Record training delivery and how-to videos using a Digital Video Camera.
  • Edit previous VHS tapes to digital format for WBT integration using Adobe Premier.
  • Interview and transcribe SME knowledge for course development.
  • Update and upgrade WBT courses in a timely manner based on content owner notifications.
  • Troubleshoot online courses and correct issues as needed.
  • Write/develop/maintain HTML/SharePoint web pages for the Technical Training website.
  • Create forms in SharePoint using Nintex and maintain existing InfoPath forms.
  • Create and maintain Technical Training Center websites and web pages, including workflows and forms.
  • Use SnagIt to generate catalogs of pictures and graphics for course creation.
  • Create animated pages within online courses using Adobe Flash.
  • Edit graphics using Adobe Photoshop and create drawings with Visio for embedding into WBT.
  • Stay updated on new methods and best practices for Adult Education to enhance training programs.
  • Maintain compliance with document management and information security standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in educational design, education training & development, or a related field is desirable.
  • 1 year of experience as an Instructional System Development (ISD) Designer, Training Specialist, or Course Developer required.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft software such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint for content creation and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Adobe software products: Flash, Audition, Premiere Pro, Bridge, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Experience with ToolBook, Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate, Basic HTML script, SnagIt, Visio Pro, MS InfoPath, Nintex.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
