About the position

The Instructional Designer at CUNY School of Professional Studies will play a crucial role in developing engaging learning programs for adult learners. This part-time position, expected to last 9 to 12 months, involves collaboration with a project team to design and implement various training modalities, including instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, eLearning, and micro-learning programs. The role requires a strong understanding of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles to create effective educational experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new learning programs in various modalities including ILT, VILT, eLearning, and micro-learning.
  • Create design documents, storyboards, scripts, and other learning assets.
  • Update learning objectives and Level 2 assessments.
  • Maintain existing V/ILT-led and eLearning programs and training materials, including adding closed captioning and updating content.
  • Collaborate with the development team, product owner, and subject matter experts on learning program development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing and developing adult learning programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to articulate ideas, concepts, and visions for learning projects clearly.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in content development tools such as Articulate Storyline.
  • Experience with graphic design and layout.
  • Experience with video creation and editing tools.
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodology and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.
