About the position

The Instructional Designer at Miller's Ale House plays a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of training programs and performance improvement tools. This position involves collaboration with peers and subject matter experts to design innovative learning programs that support both hourly positions and managerial training. The Instructional Designer will utilize a modular, blended learning format to implement these programs via Crunchtime TalentLink, the company's Learning Management System (LMS). In this role, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating a variety of user training tools, including facilitator guides, participant materials, rollout guides, teaching aids, storyboards for eLearning, and quick training videos. The position requires proficiency in various software tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, and Acrobat, as well as Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Instructional Designer will collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to identify training needs through root cause analysis and performance gap assessments. They will also assist in evaluating the effectiveness of existing training materials and programs, ensuring that all content is engaging and meets the needs of the learners. Strong organizational and project management skills are essential, as the designer will manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively with key stakeholders to meet project deadlines. This position also supports the internal communications team as needed, requiring clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. The Instructional Designer will be expected to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative, visual job aids, participant materials, and facilitation guides for all positions using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, and Acrobat.
  • Collaborate with and interview subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain training materials as needed.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to identify training needs through root cause and performance gap analysis.
  • Assist in the assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of existing and newly created materials and programs.
  • Develop storyboarding for eLearning and video content.
  • Communicate and partner with vendors, contractors, and multimedia developers.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong project planning skills.
  • Support the internal communications team as needed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the training industry such as the ADDIE and SAM models.
  • Established expertise with Instructional Design Concepts and Adult Learning Principles.
  • Proficient in graphic and video design tools such as Canva, Vyond, Camtasia, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Adobe Audition, and Acrobat.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Proficient with Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise eLearning course authoring applications.
  • Established expertise in creating content delivered through Team Member engagement and gamification applications such as Kahoot.
  • Ability to create programs and enable SCORM/AICC content deployment in a Learning Management System.
  • High attention to detail and ability to communicate concepts quickly and accurately.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal to a wide variety of people and positions within the organization.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years' experience in organizational design, instructional design, or related fields.
  • 1-3 years of project management experience.
  • Proficient in eLearning development tools such as Captivate and Articulate.
  • Basic camera and video camera knowledge and experience.
  • Experience in collaborative/social learning tools.
  • 3+ years' experience in the hospitality industry, restaurant.
