About the position

Rollins College is seeking an Instructional Designer to join its Information Technology department. This role is pivotal in supporting hybrid and HyFlex teaching methodologies, working closely with faculty and staff to enhance course design and delivery. The Instructional Designer will foster relationships with faculty to understand their needs and those of their students, providing resources and expertise on hybrid and HyFlex teaching strategies. This position also involves creating, organizing, and conducting workshops, training sessions, and seminars focused on educational technology tools and best practices for the college community. In addition to supporting learning and professional development, the Instructional Designer will embrace best practices in accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL), ensuring that all instructional technology and resources are inclusive and accessible. The role requires a dynamic change agent who is passionate about using technology to reshape teaching and learning, staying updated with the latest trends and emerging technologies in instructional design and pedagogy. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Instructional Designer will work as part of a cohesive team within the instructional design and technology team, contributing to shared goals and enhancing team effectiveness. The role also includes providing ongoing technical training and support for the college's Learning Management System (LMS) and other educational tools, as well as managing various projects using project management software.

Responsibilities

  • Support hybrid and HyFlex teaching by collaborating with faculty and staff.
  • Create, organize, and conduct workshops and training sessions on educational technology tools.
  • Develop and maintain a library of resources such as tutorials and guides for faculty and students.
  • Embrace best practices in accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Act as a change agent to inspire innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Provide ongoing technical training and support for the college's LMS and other tools.
  • Utilize project management software to plan and execute projects.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in instructional design, particularly in hybrid course development.
  • Experience working in the higher education environment.
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and instructional design theories.
  • Ability to design user-friendly and visually appealing learning tools.
  • Strong project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with a wide range of academic technologies, including Learning Management Systems and Adobe Creative Cloud apps.
  • Experience in creating engaging professional development opportunities for diverse groups.
