About the position

Salem State University is seeking two Instructional Designers to support excellence in teaching and faculty development. The instructional designers will work closely with each other and other staff of the Center for Teaching Innovation to support the professional development of faculty, develop programming in collaboration with other departments, and aid in the design and development of courses in various modalities. This role requires both independent work and collaboration as part of a team. Additionally, the instructional designers will have operational and administrative responsibilities related to program and project management, which includes scheduling workshops and other programming, publishing the weekly CTI newsletter, developing new resources, and maintaining the CTI main website. Responsibilities

  • Support the professional development of faculty through instructional design.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop programming.
  • Aid in the design and development of courses in various modalities.
  • Manage operational and administrative tasks related to program and project management.
  • Schedule workshops and other programming activities.
  • Publish the weekly CTI newsletter.
  • Develop new resources for faculty and staff.
  • Maintain the CTI main website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience building courses with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience with instructional design principles, instructional technology, or digital pedagogy.
  • Expertise in online learning and the use of Canvas templates or inclusive pedagogy and assessment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or certificate in instructional design.
  • Experience teaching at the college/university level.
  • Experience teaching online courses.
  • Experience providing professional development support for instructional technology or online teaching.
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, instructional design practices, assessment, and universal design for learning and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across units and ranks.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
