About the position

As the Instructional Designer at Generac, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the training curriculum for both customers and sales team members, directly supporting our Consumer Power sales goals. This position is integral to our commitment to energy innovation and excellence in training delivery. You will be responsible for creating a comprehensive training program that encompasses new onboarding, professional skills, leadership skills, functional and technical skills, systems training, and process training. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with sales leadership, marketing, channel management, and product teams to ensure that the training content is not only best-in-class but also consistent across our omni-channel environment. Your responsibilities will include working with subject matter experts at various levels of the organization to gather objectives and content efficiently and professionally. You will design and develop training materials that utilize blended learning methodologies and adhere to established team standards and best practices. The curriculum you create will include fully illustrated visual presentations, learner's guides, job aids, role-play exercises, and handouts for classroom settings. For online training, you will prepare content for audio recording and editing, create visual elements, and support the development team using authoring software such as Articulate 360 Suite. In addition to curriculum development, you will manage and maintain training materials and process documentation as needed. You will oversee the implementation and execution of training programs and may also be responsible for presenting the curriculum to stakeholders. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that all training initiatives align with Generac's mission of powering a smarter world and enhancing the skills of our workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts to obtain objectives and content efficiently.
  • Design and develop training materials using blended, adult learning principles and established best practices.
  • Create fully illustrated visual presentations, learner's guides, job aids, role-play exercises, and handouts for classroom training.
  • Prepare content for audio recording and editing for online curriculum development.
  • Create visual elements and support the development team with authoring software such as Articulate 360 Suite.
  • Manage and maintain curriculum, materials, and process documentation as needed.
  • Oversee training program implementation and execution.
  • Present the curriculum to stakeholders as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated instructional design development portfolio.
  • 3 years of experience in training/learning in an instructional design capacity.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and/or the ADDIE model.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Previous experience using Articulate 360 Suite (Storyline, Rise, etc.), Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, TechSmith Camtasia or Adobe Premiere.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience of video editing.
  • Previous experience with sales enablement curriculum and customer-facing audiences.
