About the position

The Instructional Designer at Kentucky State University plays a crucial role in the Office of Online Learning, focusing on the design and implementation of online courses. This position collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance instructional delivery methods, ensuring alignment with educational standards and competencies. The role emphasizes the application of research-based learning theories and innovative design principles to create engaging, learner-centered experiences for both matriculating and non-matriculating students.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Online Education to implement online programs and courses successfully.
  • Design, develop, and revise engaging online courses in collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts.
  • Apply pedagogical theories and instructional design models to create learner-centered educational experiences.
  • Ensure compliance with US Department of Education and Quality Matters Standards, as well as institutional guidelines for accessibility and educational effectiveness.
  • Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure accessibility and inclusivity in courses.
  • Align instructional practices with institutional goals and promote continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the development and management of Canvas LMS Catalog short courses.
  • Ensure effective setup, deployment, and maintenance of all online courses, collaborating with the KSU Land Grant Program as needed.
  • Integrate multimedia and interactive elements into course design to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design or a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in developing online programs.
  • Experience with learning management systems is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in instructional design methodologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously.
