About the position

The Instructional Designer at Oceaneering will be responsible for designing and developing engaging learning experiences aimed at enhancing knowledge, skills, and competencies among learners. This role will initially focus on the Mobile Robotics business segment and may extend support to other segments in the future. The designer will collaborate with subject matter experts to assess training needs and create instructional content that aligns with defined learning objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify target audience's training needs.
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.).
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Visual design skills (Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology, or equivalent experience (5 yrs. plus).

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic HTML and Adobe Animate programming knowledge.
  • Knowledge of video editing using Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects.
  • Exposure to, or knowledge of competency systems and development.
  • Experience with SumTotal is a real plus but not essential.
  • Use of Articulate storyline 3 or 360 and Adobe Captivate as e-learning development tools.
