About the position

The Instructional Designer position at Abbott focuses on creating and delivering effective training content for the CRM Division, which specializes in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop instructional materials that enhance knowledge retention and transfer, utilizing industry-standard methodologies in instructional design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instructional and technical content analysis activities to understand business needs and user requirements.
  • Develop in-person instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, and eLearning content, including on-demand modules, videos, PowerPoint presentations, course quizzes, and activity handouts.
  • Collaborate with Trainers and other SMEs to gather knowledge for efficient design and development.
  • Work with Marketing to generate instructional materials and standard templates for design and writing alignment.
  • Ensure design consistency, cross-functionality, and reusable content aligned with Abbott's strategy and brand.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods to maximize information retention and knowledge transfer.
  • Lead meetings with stakeholders, SMEs, and other relevant parties.
  • Manage project timelines and drive initiatives to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of all curricula by facilitating successful review processes as needed.
  • Manage multiple priorities and adjust quickly to changing business scopes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
  • 2 or more years of relevant work experience as an instructional designer, educational technologist, eLearning developer, or related role delivering training content.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the required elements for different work products like instructor-led training content and general communications.
  • Experience using PowerPoint, Articulate 360, BioDigital, or similar design and development software.
  • Experience publishing eLearning to conform to SCORM standard.
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models (e.g. ADDIE).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Collaboration and interpersonal skills, essential for interacting with stakeholders and team members.
  • Medical or lab knowledge.
