About the position

The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in the Learning, Culture, and Development team at Vivint Smart Home, focusing on designing, creating, and curating engaging content for various learning programs. This position requires collaboration with subject matter experts to develop high-quality learning solutions that enhance the home experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging and high-quality content for e-learning modules, instructor-led training, videos, simulations, job aids, and other instructional materials.
  • Write clear and concise instructional text, scripts, and storyboards.
  • Create visual elements and multimedia components to enhance learning experiences.
  • Source and curate relevant content from various internal and external resources.
  • Organize and manage content repositories, ensuring easy access and retrieval of learning materials.
  • Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Leverage e-learning authoring tools and multimedia production software to create content.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to gather input from team members, learners, SMEs, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all content adheres to the organization's branding and style guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communication, Learning Sciences, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in content creation, instructional design, eLearning development, or a related role.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and multimedia production.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in instructional design or a related field.
  • Experience in a corporate learning environment.
  • Knowledge of gamification, microlearning, and mobile learning strategies.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator).
