About the position

The Instructional Designer at TFE, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Department of Energy's Office of Legacy Management by developing and implementing training programs for over 500 employees and subcontractors. This position requires expertise in instructional design, particularly using the ADDIE process, to create effective learning materials and ensure compliance with various DOE standards. The role involves collaboration with subject matter experts and continuous improvement of training materials to enhance learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with support organizations and subject matter experts to develop and finalize materials utilizing the ADDIE Process.
  • Ensure 508 compliance for all training materials.
  • Work with the instructional design team to develop training materials including presentations, lesson plans, and handouts.
  • Participate in a comprehensive peer review process for training materials.
  • Adhere to Associated Press and internal organizational editorial styles and guidelines.
  • Maintain courses in the Learning Nucleus learning management system.
  • Assist with the test control process for the LMS program.
  • Use Articulate 360, PowerPoint, and other software to develop courses.
  • Self-manage projects and duties effectively.
  • Follow records management procedures from creation to disposition phase of learning material.
  • Complete required compliance-driven organizational training and documentation.
  • Continuously strive for improvement of all training materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in instructional design and/or adult education.
  • Portfolio with examples of work will be requested.
  • In-person test during final interview will be conducted.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years instructional design experience or adult education preferred.
  • Working knowledge of modern adult learning principles and techniques.
  • Experience creating online modules and instructor-based training sessions.
