About the position

The Instructional Designer at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) plays a crucial role in supporting faculty in the development and delivery of online courses. This position focuses on ensuring that courses are designed for scalability and accessibility, catering to a diverse student population. The Instructional Designer will collaborate with faculty to implement effective learning outcomes and utilize various educational technologies to enhance online learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Support faculty in the design and development of instructional content for online delivery.
• Utilize the Quality Matters Rubric for Higher Education to assess online courses and programs.
• Facilitate group training and workshops, as well as individual consultations for faculty designing, developing, and delivering online courses.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and regulations related to online course design and delivery.

Requirements

• Masters degree in instructional design, instructional technology, or related field; Ph.D. or Ed.D preferred.
• At least three years of instructional design and development work experience (preferably in higher education).
• Experience in collaborating with faculty to develop and implement learning outcomes.
• Experience designing, implementing, and conducting faculty development programs.
• Ability to develop project timelines.
• Experience with the Canvas Learning Management platform.
• Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social media, mobile devices, Web 2.0 applications, learning analytics).
• Experience with assessment, evaluation, and educational research methodologies (preferably Quality Matters).
• Experience in higher education curriculum design.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and web page editors, graphic software, and basic HTML.
