About the position

The Instructional Designer will support the DOD/DISA Training Academy by providing mission-critical technical and operational specialty training for Senior Executive Leadership and their support staff. This role involves developing instructional materials and e-Learning content to enhance the communications capabilities of personnel, ensuring they can effectively execute their roles in leadership communications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments and strategic learning assessments for curriculum development.
  • Interview subject matter experts or conduct research to develop instructional content.
  • Present recommendations regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options.
  • Provide analytical support for the design and development of training curricula and educational policies.
  • Develop instructional, learning, and performance objectives.
  • Create instructional materials and products for instructor-led and online courses.
  • Design instructional aids for various delivery methods.
  • Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instruction and implement course improvements based on feedback.
  • Review existing curriculum materials and recommend content for blended-learning delivery.
  • Plan, design, develop, and implement online courses and training videos.
  • Train and mentor instructor staff on instructional strategies and methodologies.
  • Review, maintain, and update training and curriculum development SOPs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA; 3 years with PhD; or 12 years with a high school diploma.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • Military Instructor certification or ability to obtain an industry instructional design certification.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI and PSD access.
  • Knowledge of the ADDIE (or SAM or SAT) model instructional design methodology.
  • Demonstrated experience using course authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate, Premier Elements, Camtasia, or Articulate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multimedia development, including graphic design, video editing, and multimedia production.
