The Instructional Designer will be part of the Product Management team within EnergyCAP's Technology Division, which is responsible for the design, development, and operational support of EnergyCAP's SaaS products (Energy & Sustainability ERP). This role involves creating and delivering engaging instructional curriculum related to the company's products to new and existing employees and customers. The Instructional Designer will assess instructional needs, design curriculum, develop materials, and conduct instruction sessions in various formats, including in-person, remote, and asynchronous e-learning modules. They will work closely with product development teams to stay updated on product features and updates, ensuring that all training materials are current and effective. The ideal candidate will possess a teacher-like nature, capable of distilling complex concepts to others while adapting methods to different learning styles. They should be creative, empathetic, and a proven storyteller, able to explain the “why” behind the functionality of our products. A strong command of the English language, resourcefulness, resilience, technical understanding, and curiosity about the energy and sustainability management industries are essential traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design comprehensive programs covering product features, benefits, and usage.
  • Produce instruction materials such as manuals, online learning modules, and instructional videos.
  • Conduct training sessions in various formats, including workshops, webinars, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Prepare EnergyCAP staff to use prepared materials to deliver compelling content to customers and prospects.
  • Implement assessment tools to measure trainee progress and the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Work with product managers, marketing, sales, and customer support teams to ensure instruction design aligns with product development and market needs.
  • Stay abreast of product updates, industry trends, and training best practices to ensure content and delivery methods are current.
  • Provide ongoing support and consultation to employees and customers regarding product questions and best practices.

Requirements

  • Experience with web accessibility and Blackboard Learning technology.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Mid-level experience in instructional design or related field.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and HTML.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the energy and sustainability management industries.
  • Ability to adapt training materials for different learning styles.
  • Experience with e-learning development tools.
