The Instructional Designer will work closely with the Center for Teaching & Learning team to manage continuous quality improvement for all academic courses. This role involves consulting, training, and serving as a resource for faculty, administrators, and instructional staff in the design, development, evaluation, and revision of teaching, learning, and assessment needs. The Instructional Designer will facilitate the implementation of instructional innovations and assist in staff development on the instructional applications of technologies and instructional methods. Additionally, the position requires researching and applying new pedagogical standards, best practices, and technologies to develop and deliver a robust learning experience for students and improve instructional outcomes. The successful candidate will support faculty and subject-matter experts in the design, development, and delivery of all academic courses. This includes designing and educating faculty on quiz functions, assignments, rubrics, and grading within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The Instructional Designer will also be responsible for learning new software quickly, exploring, and demonstrating the features of the LMS, and consulting with faculty on appropriate instructional technology and resources. Collaboration with the Assessment & Curriculum coordinator is essential to ensure that instructors' learning outcomes are addressed in their syllabi. Moreover, the Instructional Designer will guide the design, development, and integration of multimedia materials, research current trends and scholarship in learning, instructional design, teaching and learning with technology, and distance education. They will apply best practices in course design while ensuring compliance with fair use, copyright, and ADA standards. The role also involves creating and updating Canvas for departments, student organizations, and clubs, assisting with administrative tasks, attending regular meetings, committees, and training sessions, and participating in professional development activities. The Instructional Designer will develop and deliver the Canvas student orientation and assist deans in evaluating course modalities for content, rigor, and andragogy. Additionally, they will conduct technology orientation sessions and documentation for orientations, provide Canvas orientations for students and faculty, and develop and deliver training for faculty in course design and the use of instructional technology in various modalities.
