About the position

The Instructional Designer at Ochsner Health System plays a crucial role in supporting the company's strategic initiatives by developing and implementing learning solutions for the Ochsner Leadership Institute (OLI). This position involves creating various educational programs, including instructor-led classes, virtual training, and self-paced online courses, aimed at enhancing leadership and professional development across the organization. The role requires collaboration with team members and operational leaders to ensure effective curriculum development and delivery in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs assessments and strategic learning assessments to develop curriculum.
  • Interview subject matter experts and conduct research to develop instructional content.
  • Design and develop learning solutions for web-based, instructor-led, and blended formats.
  • Create performance and learning support materials such as manuals and job aids.
  • Assess the effectiveness of instruction and instructional technology use.
  • Present and facilitate trainings using various instructional techniques.
  • Observe and provide feedback on instructional techniques to in-house faculty.
  • Consult with internal customers on learning needs and course design.
  • Research and evaluate emerging instructional technologies.
  • Develop master course documentation and templates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 2 years of experience in Instructional Design or corporate training environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of video creation and editing software such as Adobe Premiere and Camtasia.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SABA or Blackboard Learn for computer-based training.
  • Familiarity with network conferencing software like Adobe Connect.
  • Knowledge of music or sound editing software such as Audacity.
