About the position

Xerox Holdings Corporation, through its division XIT Staffing, is seeking an Instructional Designer for Virginia's largest institution of higher education. This is a full-time, 1+ year contract position that offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and 401K. The Instructional Designer will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Instructional Design and Development, focusing on the design and development of online asynchronous courses and related resources. The role involves close collaboration with the college's IT Department to create effective online courses.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the college's IT department to design and develop blueprint templates for asynchronous courses.
  • Design digital course content in partnership with faculty members.
  • Integrate teaching and learning technology tools into course designs.
  • Translate information from the IT department into training materials.
  • Apply understanding of learning theory to develop activities, assessments, and learning materials that meet educational objectives.
  • Support the implementation of new instructional technologies for teaching and learning, including initial setup, regular support, and troubleshooting.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with faculty, staff, fellow instructional designers, and the online team to complete project assignments.
  • Utilize strong creative and technical skills to create robust course resources and designs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or a related field; other Master's degrees considered based on instructional design experience.
  • Minimum of two years of instructional design experience working with faculty/instructors/subject matter experts.
  • Highly developed communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal) with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, HTML, etc.
  • Experience with cloud computing and data security.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience with CIDI Labs is a plus.
  • Expertise in applying learning theory and pedagogy to develop instructional design strategies.
  • Knowledge of best practices using technology for teaching and learning, including multimedia development and the Canvas learning management system.
  • Ability to monitor and report on the course development process.
  • Instructional design experience in higher education.
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in online and blended environments.
