About the position

The Instructional Designer at Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) plays a crucial role in enhancing educational programs through the design, development, and evaluation of instructional materials and methods. This position involves collaboration with faculty and staff to implement effective teaching strategies and utilize technology to improve student learning outcomes. The designer will focus on applying instructional design models, conducting research, and providing training to faculty on the use of educational technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with faculty, administrators, and instructional staff on instructional program design and evaluation.
  • Conduct front-end analyses including needs assessment and instructional analysis.
  • Design measurement instruments and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Develop and provide faculty development activities and in-service training.
  • Conduct applied research and evaluation to recommend effective learning solutions.
  • Explore and evaluate new technologies and materials for educational use.
  • Apply adult learning principles to web-based delivery methods and training program design.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Instructional Design and curriculum development.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Learning Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent analytic and evaluation skills.
  • Ability to write strategic learning plans for curriculum.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multimedia hardware and digital media editing tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere).
  • Familiarity with computer-related ADA requirements and Section 508 compliance.
