The ID is responsible for coordinating training and professional development opportunities for faculty, aimed at improving the quality of online courses and ensuring that best practices are implemented in course offerings. In addition to course reviews, the ID manages multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, utilizing a ticketing system to track progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders. This role requires a strong emphasis on collaboration and accountability, as the ID works closely with other team members to ensure that instructional technology settings are optimized for usability. The position is hybrid, necessitating a weekly on-campus presence, which allows for direct interaction with faculty and staff. The ID must stay current with emerging trends in instructional design and technology, ensuring that the university remains compliant with Distance Education regulations and policies. This includes educating stakeholders on the importance of accessibility standards and assisting in the integration of instructional technology into course materials. The ID's responsibilities also extend to providing feedback to faculty on their online/hybrid courses, ensuring that they meet quality standards and effectively utilize instructional design practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to faculty members on effective instructional design practices and instructional technology tools.
  • Conduct thorough online/hybrid course reviews to provide faculty feedback and assistance in meeting quality standards.
  • Facilitate course review processes and monitor data tracking.
  • Manage instructional design projects using a ticketing system.
  • Educate and assist university stakeholders to ensure digital course materials, multimedia projects, and instructional technology are compliant with current accessibility standards and regulations.
  • Assist the university in remaining in compliance with Distance Education regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with other Distance Education team members to ensure instructional technology settings have optimal functionality and usability for users.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in instructional design and technology.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience designing and/or teaching online courses.
  • Experience assisting faculty with instructional technology integration.
  • Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and other instructional technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at different stages while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and technical skill levels.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to gain new skills as may be required by changing technology.
  • Ability to use a variety of software platforms, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis skills.
