About the position

Carrier is seeking a highly skilled Commercial HVAC Instructional Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC systems and instructional design, with the ability to create engaging and effective training materials for our commercial HVAC employees. This role will involve collaborating with subject matter experts, designing curriculums, and developing a variety of training materials to support the ongoing professional development of our employees. The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in ensuring that our training programs are not only informative but also engaging and tailored to the needs of our workforce. In this position, you will design, develop, and maintain comprehensive e-learning and classroom-based training for Carrier Commercial Equipment. You will create learning materials to support the commercial equipment training and interface with product experts as needed for product clarification and insight into the timing of new product releases. Additionally, you will coordinate with Service Engineers to review commercial product training and upload, test, and maintain version control of product training in our Learning Management System (LMS). Your responsibilities will also include designing, developing, and maintaining the HVAC Fundamentals training series. You will create engaging and interactive training materials, such as presentations, videos, simulations, and e-learning modules, to effectively convey technical concepts and procedures. Incorporating adult learning principles and instructional design best practices will be essential to ensure that training materials are effective and engaging for learners. You will utilize appropriate instructional technologies and learning management systems to deliver and track training programs, conduct reviews of tests to measure the effectiveness of training programs, and make continuous improvements. Staying current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in HVAC systems and instructional design will be vital to your success in this role. Collaboration with other members of the training and development team will support broader organizational learning initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Instructional Design

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, HVAC Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in instructional design, particularly in developing technical training materials for HVAC systems.
  • Experience in the commercial HVAC sector is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of HVAC principles, equipment, and systems commonly used in commercial settings.
  • Proficiency with instructional design software and tools, such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, or similar platforms.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms preferred.
