About the position

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a Hybrid/Local Instructional Designer/Trainer to deliver IT training to staff on custom GDOT IT developed and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications. The role involves conducting both in-person and remote training sessions, developing training content, and maintaining training records within the Learning Management System (LMS). The ideal candidate will have experience in instructional design and a strong background in IT training, with the ability to engage adult learners effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver IT training to GDOT staff on various applications.
  • Develop and maintain IT training content including presentations, guides, and videos.
  • Conduct virtual and on-site training sessions.
  • Collaborate with GDOT users to identify training needs and course offerings.
  • Publish training schedules and administer learner enrollments and testing within the LMS.
  • Gather feedback through training surveys to improve delivery and content.
  • Maintain professionalism and order during training sessions.
  • Ensure training environments are prepared prior to classes.
  • Complete recordkeeping for training activities and performance indicators.
  • Participate in IT projects and provide user training support.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications.
  • BA/BS in communications, teaching, IT, or similar field; or Associate Degree with 2 years of IT experience; or IT Certifications with 4 years of IT experience.
  • 4 years of work experience in IT technical training or with IT applications/systems.
  • 5 years of excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
  • 1 year of flexibility to travel within the State of Georgia for training classes.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4 years of experience in developing role-based end user training content for IT applications/systems.
  • 2 years of experience in instructional design, visual design, storyboarding, and writing instructional text.
  • 2 years of experience with Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, and Articulate 360/Storyline.
  • 1 year of experience with Microsoft Teams.
  • 1 year of experience maintaining training records within an LMS.
  • Familiarity with Oracle LMS/Workday LMS and ServiceNow.
