About the position

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified Instructional Designer to support online student learning through quality course design. The role involves collaboration with faculty, subject matter experts, and administrators to create engaging online courses that align with the university's mission of Christ-centered Liberal Arts education.

Responsibilities

  • Work with faculty/SMEs to create engaging and interactive learning activities and compelling course content.
  • Produce original multimedia to enrich online courses.
  • Identify training needs for faculty/SMEs and provide appropriate group and one-on-one training.
  • Evaluate and ensure all online courses meet quality standards.
  • Assist in ensuring accurate and consistent documentation of online courses' compliance with the University's credit hour policy.
  • Ensure the accessibility of the University's online courses to diverse learners in consultation with the Center for Disability Services.
  • Provide technical support for faculty in the creation and integration of online learning materials for use in the University's learning management system (e.g. Canvas).
  • Teach online (two courses per year) in an area consistent with academic qualifications.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field, OR master's degree and substantial experience in online course design.
  • Experience in design and development of technology-based instructional methods.
  • Ability to produce multimedia resources for use in an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
  • Knowledge of Quality Matters and current instructional theories for engagement using web-based tools.
