About the position

The Instructional Designer at the University of Arizona Global Campus is responsible for providing faculty with course design support to create effective learning environments. This role involves assisting faculty in the development and use of digital resources, managing the delivery of accessible educational content for various course formats, and ensuring alignment with educational goals and evidence-based instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide course design support to faculty in creating effective learning environments.
  • Assist faculty with the creation and use of digital resources, including software and multimedia tools.
  • Manage the development and delivery of accessible educational content for blended, flipped, and online courses.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or related discipline and at least 3-5 years of professional work experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience providing formal instruction.
  • Current knowledge of research on technology and learning.
  • Experience developing course materials that meet accessibility standards and align with UDL principles.
  • Experience developing and leading faculty training initiatives.
  • Broad knowledge of productivity, media editing, and common software used in instruction.
  • Extensive experience with image and video editing software, especially Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of web standards such as HTML, CSS, XML, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with audio and video codecs and image file formats.
  • Experience with CMS and LMS platforms, including Brightspace.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use still and video cameras.
  • Comfortable working with Apple Mac, MS Windows, and Android operating systems.
  • Experience managing content development projects, including budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with colleagues and clients.
  • Experience creating rapid prototypes for projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with project management and completing projects on schedule.
  • Interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience providing formal instruction at the college level.
  • Experience with Internet of Things, 3D Printing, and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with GIS applications, especially ESRI ARC GIS.
  • Experience with statistical computing and data visualization tools, especially R.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience supporting experiential and service learning courses.
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or similar applications.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
