The Instructional Designer (ID) at Sophia Learning is a pivotal role within a dynamic and innovative course design and development team. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including academic partners, project managers, editors, learning technologists, and interactive media developers, to create and revise courses that are not only effective but also highly engaging and aligned with quality standards. The ID will manage the design and development of new and revised courses across multiple academic levels, including Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs in diverse fields such as math, science, business, humanities, composition, and IT. A key responsibility of the ID is to ensure strong alignment between program outcomes, course competencies, assessments, and learning activities, which is essential for enhancing learner efficiency in mastering competencies. The ID will also conduct thorough needs, content, and learner analyses to identify opportunities for learning and skill-building solutions. This role involves managing the design, development, and delivery of online course content, materials, and interactive multimedia components, ensuring that all materials are consistent with established design and development processes to promote flexibility and reusability. Staying updated on UX design trends and technology initiatives is crucial for this position, as the ID will provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations based on current best practices. The role demands strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization, as well as an aptitude for adapting to new technologies in a fast-paced environment.
