Penn State's School of Graduate and Professional Studies is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our expanding online learning design team. This position is fully remote, allowing for flexibility without the need for physical relocation to the Penn State Great Valley Campus. The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with faculty members to design and develop online courses, acting as a lead project manager. This role requires the use of various technology-enhanced systems to create content suitable for multiple delivery modes. A strong grasp of pedagogical principles, instructional systems theory, and the application of both existing and emerging educational technologies is essential. Additionally, the candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of instructional design issues and best practices related to teaching and learning across all course delivery modes. Candidates must possess solid experience with learning management systems, particularly Canvas, as well as familiarity with multimedia development processes, accessibility standards, and copyright requirements. The ability to manage the scope, timeline, and deliverables of multiple concurrent projects is crucial. Strong communication, collaboration, time management, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills are necessary for success in this role. The Instructional Designer will utilize the team's project management system, adhere to standard processes, and contribute to the ongoing improvement and documentation of the team's procedures. Proficiency in advanced features of tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, Speechify, and other Web 2.0 tools is also required.
