About the position

Montgomery College is seeking a Full-time Instructional Designer to support the Professional Development unit of the Office of E-Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence (ELITE). This role involves analyzing and developing instructional systems and materials to enhance learning experiences in higher education. The position promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and allows for telework one day a week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses of occupational and academic areas to determine requirements for instructional systems.
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop components of instructional design based on analysis findings.
  • Develop, review, and revise instructional materials in accordance with learning objectives.
  • Design criteria for training aids and devices based on needs analysis.
  • Plan, coordinate, develop, review, or evaluate education and training programs.
  • Design, develop, conduct, or evaluate staff and faculty development programs.
  • Develop objective tests and instruments to measure student achievement and instruction adequacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in curriculum development, instructional design, adult education, human resources development, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years' experience in learning and/or organizational development in higher education.
  • Thorough knowledge of instructional design theory, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and principles, curriculum development, project management, and instructional technologies.
  • Ability to manage conflict and work with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of document and web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA).
  • Experience with self-paced training development using software like Articulate 360.
