About the position

The Instructional Designer position focuses on creating and developing instructional materials for technical training courses in the automotive manufacturing sector. The role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and designing effective training content that meets the needs of both internal and external audiences. The Instructional Designer will utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools to produce various deliverables, ensuring high-quality training experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop ILT and WBT instructional materials for technical training courses related to automotive manufacturing equipment.
  • Create course design documents, objectives, scripts, storyboards, instructor guides, student guides, PowerPoint presentations, and knowledge assessments.
  • Demonstrate effective time management, course development, and technical writing skills.
  • Conduct research and develop entry and advanced level courses independently for various audiences.
  • Utilize multimedia technology and authoring tools in course development.
  • Collaborate with client subject matter experts and stakeholders to determine skill gaps and appropriate training content.
  • Develop curriculum based on specific equipment, processes, and other relevant topics.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in applied science; Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • Five or more years of experience in Instructional Design and Course Development or applicable experience.
  • Previous work/training development experience in automotive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience in training development related to manufacturing controls and robot technology is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and cross-cultural environments.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, multimedia, curriculum, and course development.
  • Automotive manufacturing technical background is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Experience in creating Web-based training and Instructor-Led Training courses.
  • Familiarity with project management tools.
  • Competent user of multimedia authoring tools, particularly Captivate, Articulate Storyline 3 and/or 360, and Microsoft Office tools.
