About the position

The Instructional Designer at Genentech, part of the Roche group, is responsible for designing and developing effective learning experiences that enhance knowledge acquisition and skills development. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts to identify training needs and applying instructional design theories and multimedia tools to create engaging course content. The position aims to support the transformation of the Commercial and Medical Group into a continuous learning culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop effective learning experiences utilizing instructional design theories and methods.
  • Create engaging course content and activities that enhance knowledge acquisition and skills development.
  • Conduct instructional research and develop assessment instruments for effective course development.
  • Analyze target audience and develop learning objectives to meet business needs.
  • Identify the best instructional methods based on learning objectives and audience constraints.
  • Design scalable learning products and compelling content that engages learners.
  • Create written and performance-based assessments to measure knowledge gain and transfer of learning.
  • Use technologies to develop and deliver scalable learning content, including authoring tools and learning management systems.
  • Partner with multimedia designers to prototype and develop graphics, video, audio, and simulations.

Requirements

  • BS Degree with 6-8 years of experience in instructional design and/or educational technology, or 4-6 years with a Master's or Doctorate degree.
  • Working knowledge of at least one learning theory and related instructional design methods.
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline, HTML, and JavaScript programming.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Visual design skills using tools like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Ability to write effective instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Medical or scientific experience in instructional design for training.
