In addition to course design support, the Instructional Designer will actively participate in professional development activities, contributing to the ongoing improvement of educational pedagogy and services within the institution. This role requires a commitment to being an active member of the campus community, participating in institutional initiatives that promote effective teaching and learning strategies. The Instructional Designer will also be responsible for researching and implementing innovative instructional strategies that align with the university's mission of making education accessible and convenient for all students, regardless of their location or circumstances. Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional design and training services to faculty.
  • Support faculty in the design of dynamic and collaborative online courses.
  • Ensure course quality and completion of assessment activities.
  • Facilitate research of new technologies and best practices in instructional design.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to educational pedagogy.
  • Actively engage with the campus community and institutional initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or a related field.
  • One year of experience with a Learning Management System (LMS) such as Blackboard or Canvas.
  • Two years of experience with multimedia applications such as Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, or Adobe Captivate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences using various communication methods.
  • Experience with word processing, email, and spreadsheet software.
  • Experience with internet browsers and effective internet utilization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in instructional design, LMS support, curriculum design, or instructional technology.
  • Continued work and certification with Quality Matters or Online Learning Consortium.
  • Experience providing design advice to support ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of HTML5 or web development environments.
