About the position

The Instructional Designer at Snow College plays a crucial role in supporting faculty and programs in the development of courses across various delivery modalities, including online, face-to-face, and hybrid formats. This position emphasizes the application of competency-based education (CBE) principles and aims to create engaging and effective learning experiences for students. The designer will collaborate with faculty to enhance curriculum design, integrate instructional technologies, and ensure high-quality educational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to design and develop innovative curriculum and learning materials.
  • Implement and integrate instructional technologies and multimedia tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Conduct needs assessments and analysis to understand learning objectives, audience characteristics, and content requirements.
  • Create, edit, and refine instructional content, including course materials, assessments, and digital resources.
  • Provide support and training to faculty in effective use of instructional technology and design principles.
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional materials and courses.
  • Keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices in instructional design, educational technology, and pedagogy.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field, or a combination of education and experience totaling 2-3 years.
  • Comprehensive understanding of instructional design methodologies and frameworks, including ADDIE, Dick and Carey, or Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction.
  • Knowledge of curriculum design principles and practices to create engaging educational experiences.
  • Proficiency in a variety of educational technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), especially Canvas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in conducting training sessions and workshops for faculty on instructional design and technology integration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with faculty and stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges in curriculum design and technology integration.
