About the position

The Instructional Designer at the University of New Hampshire College of Professional Studies is responsible for developing and supporting online and hybrid courses, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning as mandated by the contract with the New Hampshire Division of Health and Human Services. This role involves collaboration with instructors across various disciplines and the management of course development processes to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality instructional design practices in developing or redesigning courses in online/hybrid/face-to-face formats using established course templates.
  • Support instructors with diverse educational disciplines from DHHS/DCYF, Instructor Coaches, and the College, as well as from other partner institutions.
  • Provide effective support in a variety of formats including in person and at a distance (email, phone, live chat or webinar).
  • Manage course development process for assigned courses meeting tight deadlines.
  • Work with instructors and SMEs to meet those deadlines and track the progress of each instructor/course.
  • Perform quality assessment on courses based on end of course evaluations and consult with instructors to identify improvements.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the CWEP and College's Instructional Design team to research and recommend new tools, methodologies, processes, and resources.
  • Develop and deliver training for instructors on educational technologies and online pedagogy in various formats.
  • Develop and manage documentation and resources in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and interactive learning modules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in instructional technology, online education, adult learning, or higher education, including at least 3 years of instructional design experience.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design theory and practice, particularly for online/hybrid courses for adult students.
  • Experience developing courses in Moodle and Canvas or similar learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with instructors from various academic disciplines and technological skills.
  • Ability to master new technologies quickly and proficiency with multi-media software, interactive video/audio production.
  • Experience with web-conferencing tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams or Zoom) and Microsoft Teams apps.
  • Introductory knowledge of HTML and web design principles, and ADA and WCAGs compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in instructional design or closely related field.
  • Experience teaching/training adult learners.
