About the position

The Instructional Designer at Kentucky State University plays a crucial role in the Office of Online Learning, focusing on the design and implementation of online courses. This position collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance instructional delivery methods, ensuring alignment with educational standards and competencies. The designer applies innovative instructional design principles to create engaging, learner-centered experiences, particularly for both matriculating and non-matriculating learners. The role also involves managing the Canvas LMS and developing online courses in partnership with the KSU Land Grant Program.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Online Education to implement online programs and courses.
• Design, develop, and revise engaging online courses with faculty and subject matter experts.
• Apply pedagogical theories and instructional design models to create learner-centered experiences.
• Ensure compliance with US Department of Education and Quality Matters Standards.
• Incorporate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles for accessibility and inclusivity.
• Align instructional practices with institutional goals for continuous improvement.
• Facilitate the development and management of Canvas LMS Catalog short courses.
• Integrate multimedia and interactive elements into course design.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Instructional Design or a relevant field.
• 3-5 years of related experience in developing online programs.
• Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is preferred.
