The University of Miami's Department of Medical Student Education is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer to join their team in Miami, FL. This role is pivotal in planning and implementing engaging learning activities and compelling course content tailored to meet the learning needs of a specific target audience. The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with subject matter experts to conduct needs assessments and analyses, identifying new development needs for the audience. The position requires designing and creating engaging learning activities that enhance retention and transfer of knowledge, as well as identifying effective methodologies for delivering curated content. In this role, the Instructional Designer will stay updated on emerging technologies that can be integrated into courses, clearly stating instructional and learning goals while creating content and assessments that align with these objectives. The designer will produce instructional graphics, user interfaces, and the final product, ensuring that the aesthetics—such as size, font, design, and overall experience—are carefully considered to avoid overwhelming learners. Conducting instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts is also a key responsibility, alongside applying tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods. The Instructional Designer will provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process, create supporting multimedia materials (including audio, video, simulations, and games), and determine the criteria for assessing learner performance. Maintaining project documentation and course folders, adhering to university policies, and safeguarding university assets are essential duties of this position.
