About the position

The Instructional Designer will play a crucial role in developing effective training materials and e-learning courses for an industry-leading client in Rockville, MD. This position involves analyzing content, collaborating with subject matter experts, and utilizing innovative design strategies to enhance learning experiences. The designer will be responsible for creating multimedia content, conducting quality assurance, and ensuring that all instructional materials adhere to best practices in instructional design.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze provided content for knowledge gaps and create a curriculum framework to support just in time training.
  • Conduct focus group information data gathering sessions including scheduling, facilitating, note taking, and synthesis of findings.
  • Follow established e-learning design and development standards and guidelines, while continually enhancing them with innovative approaches.
  • Collaborate with other training team members and subject matter experts to develop course content.
  • Develop storyboards, video, and audio scripts for course development.
  • Design new microlearning courses and learning experiences.
  • Create e-learning activities that provide practical learning applications and enhance retention.
  • Apply knowledge of copyright and intellectual property guidelines for e-learning.
  • Collaborate with course developer(s) on the vision for e-learning courses and providing guidance for compelling learning experiences and outcomes.
  • Create multimedia, visual/graphic design, and interactive course solutions.
  • Support audio production, produce videos, and edit audio/video for course development.
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) and testing of courses prior to their release.
  • Collaborate with LMS administrator on testing, publishing, and launching of courses on the LMS.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships and work with all project stakeholders.
  • Continually evaluate learner feedback and work to ensure all instructional materials are consistent and uphold instructional design best practices.

Requirements

  • Instructional Design certification or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in an Instructional Design or Corporate Training-related field.
  • Expertise with training authoring software: Articulate 360 suite, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • At least 3 years' experience in an Instructional Design, e-learning Development, or Corporate Training role.
  • Expertise with evolving learning/training strategies such as microlearning and training on-demand.
  • Experience creating training for computer software in a just-in-time delivery format.
  • Experience with the ADDIE model for creating effective training deliverables.
  • Experience with educational video production, development, and editing preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary internal teams including graphic designers, subject matter experts, and leadership.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at the same time, prioritize tasks, identify and mitigate risks, and meet tight deadlines while still maintaining high-quality work.
