About the position

The Instructional Designer at Boston Mutual is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences across the organization. This role focuses on designing educational materials, courses, and training programs while collaborating with subject matter experts and utilizing various instructional design principles and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement educational curriculum for various formats (instructor-led training, e-learning, blended learning)
  • Conduct needs assessments and analyze learner needs to determine appropriate instructional strategies and content development
  • Create instructional materials including lesson plans, course outlines, storyboards, multimedia elements, assessments, and supporting documents
  • Utilize authoring tools and learning management systems to create interactive and engaging learning experiences
  • Assess the effectiveness of instructional materials and programs through data analysis; implement improvements based on evaluation results
  • Work with subject matter experts, trainers, and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of content

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years in instructional design
  • Proven experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and educational technology; experience in life insurance preferred
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models and principles (e.g. ADDIE, SAM)
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate)
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other educational technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge, multimedia editing skills, and proficiency with various graphic design software
