About the position

The Instructional Designer at Houston Community College plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience by providing assistance and training to faculty and team members in the design and implementation of online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. This position involves collaboration with Master Course Development teams to ensure the production of high-quality courses across various modalities, while also staying current with instructional design trends and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the work and provide leadership to the multimedia and Master Course Development teams.
  • Coordinate with Master Course Developers to design and produce quality online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses and training materials.
  • Assist team members and faculty with instructional and interface design.
  • Help faculty select electronic delivery methods and effective uses of multimedia.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance on course design problems.
  • Design and produce learning materials in various formats to support teaching and learning.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and online training for faculty on instructional technologies and best practices.
  • Research innovative trends in educational practices and technologies to assist faculty in developing new teaching methods.
  • Participate in decision-making for the purchase of new software and technology.
  • Stay current with instructional design and ADA web compliance issues.
  • Participate in training and developmental activities as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology or related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 1 year of directly job-related experience working with various operating systems required.
  • Experience with instructional design and teaching in higher education or community college preferred.
