About the position

Contiem, Inc., a Veteran-owned and ISO 270001 certified company, is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our team. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality training solutions tailored to our clients' needs across various industry verticals, including Publishing, Consumer Products, Healthcare, Technology, and Financial Services. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating exceptional content, including technical documentation, eLearning modules, online help, visualizations, and training materials, which are essential for our clients to achieve their business objectives. This position is client-facing and requires a strong background in consulting and subject-matter expertise, along with a proven track record in delivering effective training solutions. In this role, the Instructional Designer will engage with clients to understand their specific challenges, define learning objectives, and recommend appropriate training strategies to meet those objectives. The designer will conduct various needs assessments, including audience analysis, task analysis, gap analysis, and content analysis, to identify performance gaps and determine training needs. The results of these assessments will be documented in client-facing strategies, plans, and reports. The designer will also be responsible for planning and creating content outlines, course materials, interactive exercises, assessments, and job aids to ensure successful learning outcomes. The Instructional Designer will implement instructional design frameworks such as ADDIE and will be involved in designing and developing various training formats, including instructor-led training (ILT), online training (WBT and VILT), blended training, and micro-learning. This role requires collaboration with Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and other team members to ensure the instructional flow of programs and the consistency of deliverables. Additionally, the designer will provide status reports and actively participate in client meetings to ensure customer satisfaction and project success. As part of the pre-sales support, the Instructional Designer will assist the sales team in understanding potential client requirements and providing effort estimates. The role also includes capability building, where the designer will help define the training team's capability requirements and participate in quality reviews to enhance team capabilities and compliance with best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Understand client problem statements, define learning objectives, and recommend training strategies to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Conduct different types of needs assessments (audience/role analysis, task analysis, gap analysis, and content analysis) to identify gaps in performance and determine training needs.
  • Document analysis results and recommendations in client-facing strategies, plans, and reports.
  • Plan and create appropriate content outlines, course content, interactive exercises, assessments, and job aids to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Implement instructional design frameworks like the ADDIE process and execute instructional design pedagogy, principles, and tools.
  • Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT), online training (WBT and VILT), blended training, or micro-learning as determined from the needs assessment and content analysis.
  • Independently develop L1 and L2 training courses.
  • Act as a key member of the team, collaborating with Project Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and others to determine course needs and instructional flow.
  • Interact with other project teams to ensure consistency of deliverables.
  • Provide status reports and participate actively in client meetings.
  • Achieve customer delight through experience, soft skills, and solution definition.
  • Assist the sales team to understand potential client requirements and provide effort estimates.
  • Create case-study-quality artifacts to exhibit training expertise.
  • Assist management in defining capability requirements to expand the training team.
  • Participate in quality reviews and recommend improvements for compliance with best practices, guidelines, processes, and standards.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in Instructional Design and Courseware Development projects.
  • Experience with solutioning and creating instructional content, storyboards, and engaging training content.
  • Proficiency in courseware development tools like Articulate Studio, Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora.
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with basic digital image editing.
  • Experience working with global clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or degree in Instructional Systems Design, Education, Training/Curriculum Development, Technical Communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Comprehension of increasingly complex products, processes, and projects.
