About the position

The Instructional Designer at Modern Animal will play a crucial role in enhancing organizational learning and improving training initiatives. This position focuses on creating high-quality, engaging learning experiences that align with adult learning theory and instructional design principles. The designer will collaborate with subject matter experts to develop various training materials, ensuring consistency and accuracy while delivering educational content that fosters measurable behavioral changes.

Responsibilities

• Utilize best practices in learning development and evaluation to develop effective learning solutions in various modalities.
• Create and improve existing content structure for better learner absorption and retention.
• Develop innovative approaches incorporating industry trends such as scenario-based learning, experiential learning, and gamification.
• Ensure digital courses are accessible and inclusive for diverse learner populations.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to transform complex information into accessible learning content.
• Manage multiple projects and stakeholders while employing effective project management skills.
• Utilize a systematic instructional design methodology to analyze, design, develop, and evaluate training materials.
• Conduct detailed needs analysis, task analysis, learner analysis, and performance gap analysis.
• Perform the entire instructional design process following instructional design models/methodologies.
• Design training evaluations, knowledge checks, and performance assessments that align with course learning objectives.
• Support LMS administration and use analytics to evaluate learning effectiveness.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in instructional design.
• Experience in veterinary or healthcare setting is a plus.
• Experience working in both corporate and field operations environments.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.
• Experience designing and developing digital, virtual, and instructor-led learning experiences.
• Direct experience authoring and updating SCORM Files with Articulate Storyline and Rise.
• Use and management of Learning Management Systems, including SCORM Files and learning pathways.
• Extensive knowledge of adult learning theory and current approaches to online learning.
• Advanced use of Google Suite, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Canva, and Articulate platforms.
• Advanced use of video and sound capture and editing software.

Nice-to-haves

• Facilitation experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience in a small, start-up based culture beneficial.
