About the position

The Instructional Designer at Eastern Washington University is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating instructional materials and content for various programs and courses across multiple modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face. This role focuses on identifying meaningful learning outcomes, selecting appropriate instructional approaches, and leveraging eLearning tools and emerging technologies to enhance learner engagement. The position requires collaboration with faculty and stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and develop effective professional development materials, all while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty and instructional design staff on the development of online and blended programs and courses.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate faculty professional development materials for high-quality course delivery.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify professional development opportunities and learning needs.
  • Employ a variety of learning methods and emerging technologies to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Identify appropriate assessment techniques to measure the impact of learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • At least two years of instructional design experience, including project management and employee supervision.
  • Experience working with a course management system and other instructional technology.
  • Experience with online teaching and face-to-face instruction in a college environment.
  • Proven ability to conduct needs assessments and develop effective professional development materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with both macOS and Windows platforms.
  • Experience creating web pages and graphic design.
  • Experience in conducting literature reviews and applying evidence-based practices.
  • Experience in creating and awarding interoperable, digital credentials.
