About the position

The Instructional Designer at RISE Partnership will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing educational materials for caregivers and public-service employees in Oregon. Reporting to the Curriculum Development Manager, this position focuses on creating effective instructional content using sound design methodologies for various learning platforms. The role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality training solutions that empower a workforce of over 80,000 individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop online courses, instructor-led courses, facilitator manuals, participant guides, and job aids.
  • Write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts.
  • Utilize adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to meet learner needs.
  • Explore ambiguous learning topics and demonstrate resourcefulness in finding creative solutions.
  • Organize and prioritize work, adhere to project milestones, and provide regular status updates.
  • Optimize the use of learning technologies for scalable training solutions.
  • Evolve and expand templates used to create training content.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in instructional design and online learning development.
  • Proficient with Articulate 360, particularly Storyline.
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and its application.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar and punctuation.
  • Highly effective time and project management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.).
  • Familiarity with audio and visual editing tools (Final Cut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Camtasia, etc.).
  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems and publishing standards (SCORM, AICC, xAPI, Tin Can).
  • Expert level user of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing training for certified nursing assistants or similar medical paraprofessional roles.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment.
