About the position

The Instructional Designer plays a crucial role in supporting faculty to create engaging digital learning environments. This position involves collaborating with faculty from diverse disciplines to identify instructional goals and apply evidence-based practices tailored to the unique needs of courses and students. The Instructional Designer will assist in course design, evaluate course effectiveness, and integrate technology to enhance learning experiences. Additionally, the role includes providing training and resources to faculty to promote best practices in teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instructional design support to faculty in the use of technologies associated with digital learning and instruction.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing training and resources to support faculty use of technology and course materials for teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate in the development, delivery, and facilitation of professional development workshops related to course design, technology-enhanced instruction, and online teaching.
  • Assist faculty throughout the course design process and provide feedback on research-based best practices for effective course design and delivery.
  • Serve as a resource to faculty on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), accessibility issues, ADA, open educational resources (OER), and copyright guidelines.
  • Maintain institutional quality assurance processes, ensuring continuous improvement of course materials and instructional design practices.
  • Engage in ongoing, self-initiated professional development to lead the university community in best practices and industry trends in digital learning and instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
  • One year of experience in the role of Instructional Designer in an institution of higher education.

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
